Katja Stam claims a record fourth QKOTC Crown in London

It was money time today at the Crystal Palace National Sports Center. After yesterday’s qualification round and group stage, the medals were decided this afternoon. In a well-filled arena, the Dutch duo Katja Stam and Emi van Driel, along with Italy’s Alex Ranghieri and Manuel Alfieri, were crowned as the new Queens & Kings of the Court® presented by Miramar®.o Both teams had already secured a direct spot in the finals with their strong performances yesterday.

Dutch dominance in the women’s final
In the women’s competition, Katja Stam and Emi van Driel proved utterly dominant. After going unbeaten yesterday, they continued that streak today, an impressive display by the two Dutch players. The final round had everything, including a spectacular chest dig followed by a tomahawk winner from the Australian duo Clancy and Fejes, the kind of play you only see in Queen & King of the Court. In the end, Katja Stam claimed her fourth QKOTC title, joining an elite group that includes David Åhman, Jonatan Hellvig and Clemens Wickler.

Italian precision seals the men’s title
In the men’s competition, the home crowd was able to enjoy local heroes Issa Batrane and Frederick Bialokoz right up to the end. The pair received loud and enthusiastic support throughout the arena, but in the final round they had to watch the French duo Calvin Aye and Teo Rotar battle it out with Italy’s Alex Ranghieri and Manuel Alfieri. Both teams delivered spectacular plays, the French relying on their explosiveness, while in the end it was the Italian volleyball craftsmanship that proved decisive. Ranghieri and Alfieri, who are the reigning Italian champions, took the title, marking a remarkable achievement in their season.
